The Northernmost land is a place that gives you the ultimate experience of the North Island in New Zealand and Cape Reinga is the most iconic place to visit in Northland. Stunning panoramic view of the ocean where the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea meet. It is also a significant place for the Maori, the leaping place for the Spirits. It is a long scenic drive to the end of the road (Highway 1), about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the nearest town Kaitaia.

Cape Reinga lighthouse is the end of the North Island then you have to make a u-turn and back. Since the nearest town is over 100km away, make sure you have enough supply to get there and back. We had a nice stay in a BBH in Kaitaia, this town is quiet the with amazing view of the ocean!
When you arrive in the car park of Cape Reinga, a short walk down to the lighthouse to see the fascinating ocean view and head way back to a high point to have the panoramic view of the ocean and the beach. It is really breathtaking. About 17km way back from Cape Reinga, experience the giant Te Paki Sand Dunes and have fun of the sand surfing! You can drive on the famous 90 miles beach with 4X4 vehicle.
